After the mechanical start of the water with Eheim Mech, the water is filtered over one or more layers of Eheim Substrate. Eheim Substrate is a high-quality porous quartz filter medium. The surface structure is ideal for the attachment of cleaning bacteria. The adhesive surface is 450 m2 per litre. As a result, the water is biologically filtered. Eheim Substrate is washable and can be used several times.
